About Us

Founded in 2003 by a group of concerned parents to overcome severe cuts in state funding, Spanish River Community High School Foundation raises funds to supplement school budgets and provide much-needed support for academic programs, curriculum, and technology at Spanish River Community High School. Its mission is to benefit as many students as possible by financing projects that will have a lasting impact and will continue to promote an atmosphere of excellence for all students. Gift support comes from private donations, grants, and corporations, and funding of projects is based on priorities set for the School by our Principal, William Latson, and input from the faculty.

Since its inception, the Foundation has raised over $900,000 to support educational excellence for our children, including $250,000 for school-wide technology infrastructure upgrades and equipment. As a result, every classroom in the school is current and comparable to all the new and refurbished schools within the district. Spanish River Community High School Foundation has also funded curriculum, equipment, and materials for our School’s Entrepreneurial, Biotechnology, and Gilder Lehrman History and Law Academies, as well as support for the Countess de Hoernle Theatre, the Countess de Hoernle Institute for the Arts, and funding for Spanish River’s state-of-the-art Digital Broadcast Studio.

Spanish River Community High School Foundation follows in the footsteps of hundreds of educational foundations that have been created throughout the country to supplement funding for public education. In fact, to highlight this growing trend, an organization known as the National School Foundation Association now exists to provide information and support for Foundations like ours. Schools in Beverly Hills, California; Newton, Massachusetts; Port Washington, New York and Stamford, Connecticut supplement their funding through private foundations. Right here in Palm Beach County, the School of the Arts Foundation has benefited the Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts since 1993.
